The Edinburg Mill and Shenandoah Valley Cultural Museum

The Shenandoah Valley Cultural Heritage Museum at the Edinburg Mill is located in Edinburg, Virginia along the bank of Stony Creek, and is open year-round. The building is an official Virginia Historic Landmark.
A portion of the Museum space is devoted to Transportation along the Great Valley Pike, the Shenandoah River, the railroads that carried passengers and freight and the Dinkey railroad that ran to the furnaces in the Valley.
The Edinburg/Madison District Museum saw at least three homes in the Town over the years. Now it has been incorporated into the Museum at The Edinburg Mill and greatly expanded. Exhibits are located throughout the building, with the greatest concentration being on the second floor. In addition to areas focsing on Edinburg High School, the Civilian Conservation Camp, the community bands, and Lantz Mill, you will also see store-fronts devaoted to former businesses in town. The third floor houses clothing, quilts and textiles that were part of life in the Valley, and special exhibits on Boy Schouts and The American Red Cross. The first floor houses a Visitor’s Center, and also has a display of kitchen items of old, broom making, glassware, a homespun dress, a farm wagon, a display of military uniforms and telephone equipment and two large gift shops.
Throughout the building, one can still see many of the large drive wheels and chutes that were in use when the Mill was in operation.
