Nestled in the heart of Bunker Hill, West Virginia, Morgan Chapel is a remarkable historic landmark whose walls still bear the signatures, sketches, and messages left by Civil War soldiers more than 160 years ago. These rare layers of historic graffiti provide a powerful and personal connection to the people who experienced one of the Shenandoah Valley's most turbulent periods.

Today, the Shenandoah Valley Battlefields Foundation and the Episcopal Diocese of West Virginia, which owns and cares for the property, are working together to preserve Morgan Chapel and expand public access to this extraordinary site. Current and planned projects include updating the chapel's interpretation, installing visitor amenities such as restrooms, and uncovering, documenting, and preserving additional Civil War-era graffiti hidden beneath later layers of paint and plaster.

Our shared vision is to create a vibrant historic site that serves both the community and future generations: a place where periodic worship services can once again be held, where students and university researchers can participate in ongoing graffiti documentation and preservation efforts, and where visitors can regularly experience guided tours that bring the chapel's history to life.

Your support will help make that vision possible. Every gift directly contributes to the preservation, interpretation, and public accessibility of Morgan Chapel, ensuring that this unique Civil War resource remains protected and available for generations to come.
