The New Market Civil War Audio Tour and Mobile App is our official guide for exploring the Civil War history and the battlefield of New Market, Virginia. Located in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley, New Market has changed little since the Civil War and vestiges of its history exist on nearly every corner. On May 15, 1864, the small town found itself in the middle of a full-fledged battle when Confederates under Gen. John C. Breckinridge, including more than 250 Cadets from Virginia Military Institute, defeated a larger Union force under Gen. Franz Sigel. This app includes 22 different audio narrations, maps, directions, and visitor information.

Coming later this year is the Civil War Cross Keys and Port Republic Audio Tour and Mobile App. This audio tour of the Upper Shenandoah Valley will cover the Civil War battles and history of Harrisonburg, Cross Keys, Port Republic, and Piedmont located in Rockingham County and Augusta County, Virginia. The Upper Shenandoah Valley was a hotbed of activity during the Civil War especially during Stonewall Jackson’s 1862 Valley Campaign and the Union campaigns of 1864. This app will include 20 different audio narrations, maps, directions, and visitor information.
