The KBA will commemorate the 156th anniversary of the Second Battle of Winchester, which began with a skirmish at Kernstown. Special tours featuring the Second Battle of Winchester will be given all day, as well as tours of the Battlefield, 1854 Pritchard House, Museum and Artillery Annex. The Gift Shop will be open. We will be open 10 am to 4 pm.

In honor of all American prisoners of war, Dana MacBean and Pat Brennan will give a presentation on James Taylor’s colored sketches contained in Ezra Ripple’s memoirs “Dancing Along the Deadline.” Ripple was a prisoner of war at both Andersonville and Florence, South Carolina. Ripple was a member of the 52nd Pennsylvania Infantry, and captured in an ill-fated attack on Fort Johnson, which is located near Charleston, South Carolina.
