Shenandoah University’s McCormick Civil War Institute will hold its annual fall seminar and tour–“We Shall Have Graveyards at Every Door”: The Lower Shenandoah Valley’s Border Region during the Civil War (Saturday, November 6, 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m.).
The tour will focus on military operations, operations of irregular troops, and how civilians–those who supported the Union, those who favored the Confederacy, and enslaved and free blacks–living in the border region from Stephens City south to the banks of Cedar Creek confronted and coped with the reality of living in a place in a constant state of flux.
$25 registration fee covers the cost of morning lecture, lunch, and vehicle caravan tour. Space is limited so sign up early to reserve your spot.
