This site is the childhood home of Confederate spy Belle Boyd.

Belle Boyd would best be known for her exploits of spying for the Confederacy and shooting and killing a Union soldier near her home in what is now Martinsburg, WV.  Prior to the Battle of Front Royal she provided General Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson with information about the Union forces in that location.  She would be imprisoned many times during her life, mostly as a result of her actions as a spy and Confederate patriot.
