This beautifully restored home was built around 1749 by Daniel Harrison, Dayton’s first settler.  Daniel was the brother of Thomas Harrison, the founder of Harrisonburg.

This site will provide excellent insight into what life was like on the frontier in the mid 18th Century.  It is often referred to as Fort Harrison due to the fact that the sturdy building often provided refuge from Native American attacks during the earliest settlements of the Valley.
