Civil War trails sign about the only Mill in the County that survived The Burning.

The Breneman-Turner Mill was nearly a casualty of The Burning much as every other Mill in Rockingham County and in the Shenandoah Valley would be.  Fortunately for this specific site, the Union Soldiers did not stay to watch the Mill burn.  The wife of the Mill owner was able to beat out the fire with her broom and in doing so enabled this one Mill to be standing today.
