This program by SVBF Board Chairman Nicholas Picerno will look at the Third Battle of Winchester (September 19, 1864) on both the large scale and the small scale, focusing on the pivotal action in the Middle Field that decided the outcome and the stories of the individual soldiers caught up in the fury.  It will also examine the aftermath of the battle, then and now, from its impact on the war then to the efforts to save the hallowed ground in the years since.…
