The guide is divided into two main sections:
- The Valley’s Civil War history – This section presents a very brief history of the military campaigns that took place in the region during the Civil War and the battles and stories associated with those campaigns, as well as a list of historic sites where those stories are told today.
- Areas of the Valley – This section provides information about each area of the Valley, its unique story, and details about the historic sites in that area, including location, hours of operation, and contact information.
