“The Fearful Peril”: Tour of Civil War Staunton

Car caravan and walking tour of Civil War-related sites in Staunton led by historian and author Bill Miller.  Presented by the Shenandoah Valley Battlefields Foundation.  Staunton was engulfed by the Civil War.  It was a critical strategic, logistical, and hospital site, played a role in the battles of McDowell, Piedmont, and Waynesboro, and faced the destruction of “Hunter’s Raid” in June 1864. This tour will include sites related to those events as well as Staunton’s post-war story.  The tour is free, but pre-registration is required.  To register, fill out and submit the form below.  For more information call the SVBF at 540-740-4545.
