The Kernstown Battlefield Association will commemorate the 153rd anniversary of the Second Battle of Kernstown with a weekend full of special events.
Scott Patchan, author of Shenandoah Summer, will give a guided Battlefield tour at 10 am on Saturday. That afternoon, Dennis Kellison will discuss his ancestral research and show his ancestor’s rifle.
On Sunday at 11 am, volunteer Larry Turner will give a presentation on artillery percussion and at 1 pm, a ranger from Cedar Creek and Belle Grove National Park will present “1864 in a Box.”
There will also be tours of the battlefield, 1854 Pritchard House, Museum and Artillery Annex throughout the weekend. The Gift Shop will be open. Saturday 10am-4pm, Sunday 11am-4pm. 610 Battle Park Drive. For more information, call 757-593-8227
