The Cross Keys & Port Republic Kids Camp is an educational opportunity for local children ages 6 to 12 to spend the day at an original battlefield site and experience the camp life of a Civil War soldier.
The day also includes living history, an artillery demonstration, a tour of the historic Frank Kemper House (the Port Republic Museum), and a mock battle – with the students as the soldiers. Lunch is included.
Children will learn how the war affected not only the soldiers of both sides, but also the families and civilians while they struggled to manage their lives in the midst of this heartbreaking period in our nation’s history.
The camp is open to children ages 6 to 12 on a first-come, first-served basis. Space is limited so register early! Pre-registration is required. The cost is $35 (and includes both lunch and a t-shirt). To register, click here (or the tab below) or call 540-740-4545. For more information, call 540-740-4545.
