Description:

The battlefield lies in the fertile farmland of eastern Augusta County, with the Blue Ridge as its backdrop. A deep bend in the Middle River runs through the battlefield's western section.  Land use is little changed since the period of significance.  Piedmont presents excellent opportunities for comprehensive landscape preservation.
