Confederate Breastworks (Shenandoah Mountain Trail) Hike

Saturday May 26, 2012

The Confederate Breastworks is a significant Civil War historical site as well as a stop on the beautiful Shenandoah Mountain Trail. Our hike will begin at the Breastworks, where we will have time to explore the history of the site as well as enjoy a walk along the trail.

This will be an easy hike, suitable for everyone, including older children. Total hiking distance will be approximately 5 miles (2.5 hours) with no significant elevation changes.

The hike will start from the Confederate Breastworks parking area at 10AM. To carpool to the site from Harrisonburg, meet at 9:00 at the Walmart parking lot on Hwy 42, nearest to Hwy 42.

Bring lunch, water to drink, appropriate clothing, rain gear, and any personal items or first aid you might need. The weather may be colder and windy on the mountain.
